1, Fabric:

1. Generally speaking, polyester is thin and lightweight, with high strength, good elasticity, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for mountaineers and hikers.

Oxford cloth is thick but heavy, making it suitable for making large tents for driving, camping, or small groups.

2. From the perspective of waterproof coatings, although PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is good at waterproofing, it can become hard and brittle in winter, and is prone to creases or fractures; PU (polyurethane) coating not only overcomes the defects of PVC, but also has a good waterproof effect.

3. Silver-coated material, which can prevent ultraviolet rays, is mainly used for leisure beach tents, sunshade tents, advertising tents, etc.

4. Some ultra-light curtains are more popular now. Unlike previous nylon and polyester fabrics coated with PU layers for waterproofing, it uses silicone (silicone resin) coating technology, which is much lighter in weight but also much more expensive.

2, Lining:

Regarding the internal net, it usually has two functions: insulation and moisture permeability, and mosquito prevention. For the previous considerations, it usually uses polyester taffeta, which has good breathability and a certain degree of insulation ability. If only mosquito prevention is needed, then the mesh is sufficient to deal with it, making the high-density mesh better. If it is a four-season tent or a high mountain tent, there is no doubt that all the interior tents are made of polyester taffeta to keep warm. If it is a summer tent or a single-person tent, for heat dissipation and breathability, almost all of them are made of gauze. For a typical three-season tent, having a portion of gauze and polyester taffeta each is a compromise and pragmatic choice.

3, Base material:

The main function of the tent bottom is to prevent water, moisture, and dust, and the selection of the bottom material also determines the grade of the tent.

1. PE coating base material, which is currently commonly used in low-end tents at a low price, is prone to cracking after multiple folds.

2. PU coating base material has significantly better wear resistance and waterproof performance than PE base material, resulting in a higher cost-effectiveness.

4, Fabric specifications

D: It is called the Daniel value, where denier=g/L * 9000, where g is the weight of the silk thread (in grams) and L is the length of the silk thread (in meters), which is used to represent the weight of the yarn woven into this fabric. The weight of a single yarn per 9000 meters is the D number of this fabric. The larger the number before D, the thicker and heavier the fabric fibers of the same area. Usually, tents are made of 150D or 70D Oxford cloth, taking into account cost/weight/wear resistance.
