Cage farming

The small net cage can be placed flexibly on the water surface, and can be placed in deep and large ponds, rivers, lakes, or reservoirs. In short, it can adapt to various water settings. The general volume of small net cages is 1-4m3, while the volume of traditional net cages can reach tens of cubic meters, and even reach 100-200m3. The combination of large water surface breeding and small net cage intensive breeding can be used to effectively and quickly improve the yield level and total yield of large and medium-sized water bodies.

Water quality control

July August is a crucial period for freshwater fish farming every year. Due to the high water temperature from July to August, fish grow quickly, their food intake increases greatly, and their excreta also increase. The water quality is prone to deterioration, resulting in fish hypoxia. Therefore, it is necessary to turn on the aerator in a timely manner every day to increase oxygen. Generally, the aerator should be turned on from 14:00 to 15:00 on sunny days to regulate water quality. If encountering hot and stuffy weather, the time for turning on the aerator should be appropriately extended. At the same time, it is necessary to frequently add new water, usually adding or changing water once every 7-10 days, with a water change of 10-15 cm each time.

Attention shall be paid to raising the water level to more than 1.5m, and the bottom of the pool shall be stirred regularly to promote material circulation and metabolism, and part of the Bottom water shall be properly replaced. Advocate the use of beneficial microbial agents to improve water quality and substrate, preferably applying microbial agents such as photosynthetic bacteria, bdellovibrio, or EM bacteria every 15 days.

Disease prevention

The main diseases that are prone to outbreaks and epidemics in freshwater fish farming are bacterial hemorrhagic disease, gill rot disease, enteritis disease, spore worm disease, anchor head disease, Chinese knot disease, and ring worm disease. Farmers should do a good job in preventing bacterial and parasitic diseases: the food table should be cleaned every 10 days and regularly disinfected with drugs such as quicklime, chlorine dioxide, dibromohydrin, and trichlorfon. To strengthen water quality management, we should mainly observe the color of the water, grasp the fertilizer content, and add new water or replace it appropriately if the water quality is aging. Fertilization, use of quicklime, and other methods are used to fertilize or purify water.

Daily management

Pay more attention to observing the feeding status of fish and the hypoxic floating head. If any signs of hypoxia are found, add new water and turn on the aerator in a timely manner to prevent fish from flooding the pond. At the same time, attention should be paid to preventing escape and theft. Timely reinforce the embankment, pay attention to patrolling and observing the safety of the embankment during the rainy season, and timely construct reinforcement to prevent the pond from connecting with the outside. Burglar prevention mainly involves strengthening night patrols in the later stages of breeding. In addition, it is best to pile piles in the pool, install a certain amount of wire mesh, or place some jujube branches and other debris to prevent hanging the net in advance.

Tilapia as a common name has been applied to various cichlids from three distinct genera: Oreochromis, Sarotherodon and Tilapia. The members of the other two genera used to belong to the genus Tilapia, but have since been split off into their own genera.
