History of Tarps

info-1-1

Although modern materials are now used to make tarps, this is not a new concept. Tarps were first used to provide cover for sailors as early as the 1400s, when they were called tarps and later simply tarps.

In the early days, we used cotton canvas tarps to secure cargo at the docks and to cover vans when traveling across the country.

Tarps were often used to keep soldiers warm and covered during battles in the dead of winter. They are also used in medical tents due to their ability to provide good protection from wind and cold.

Tarps have been useful for centuries in Middle Eastern countries where temperatures can exceed 115°F or more, making them extremely dangerous for human habitation.

Since tarps help keep heat from sinking into the ground, they can be used to keep desert areas cool when the sun is at its strongest.

Over the past 120+ years we have seen tarps made from new materials such as PVC, vinyl, polyethylene, polyester canvas and more.

The world of tarps is alive and well: not only can tarps be seen in industrial settings, they also find multiple uses in small businesses around the world.
